Quantum VS Help: File Maintenance |
The first stage of creating a Pack involves setting up the Product record so that the Timber (or Sheet) Product is defined as a Pack.
Note: Packs may only be created from Timber and Sheet products. You may only create Packs of one product - not different products. (As an alternative you may create a Kit. Kits comprise two or more different (non-Timber) Products - see Kit Maintenance.)
To define an existing Timber (or Sheet) Product as a Pack:
1. Open the required Product record. See Finding Products.
2. Make the record active by selecting Amend from the Toolbar - Sub Menu.
3. The Main tab/header is selected by default.
In the Timber Details section, locate the Stock Control Level field and use the drop-down menu to select one of the following options:
Stock by Pack Tally: Defines the product as a pack, recording quantities/tallies of timber according to each length of timber (e.g. 3m). Or:
Stock by Pack: Defines the product as a pack, recording multiple length details and total volume, total length and total pieces.
Note: If there is no Timber Details section displayed in the Main tab of the Product record then the Product is not defined as a Timber (or Sheet) Product (and hence may not be defined as a Pack). For further details see Creating Timber, Sheet And Pack Products.
4. Save the Product by clicking Save on the Toolbar - Sub Menu.
The Timber (or Sheet) Product has now been defined as being stocked in Packs.
The next step is, when you receive the goods from the Supplier, to create Pack records for this Product. See Creating Packs When Goods Are Received.
