Quantum VS Help: File Maintenance |
A wide range of pricing- and discount-related criteria may be set up in Quantum VS.
When a customer buys a product (i.e. when the product is added to a Sales Order or any other sales document) the system will determine the price the customer will pay for that product, based on the terms of business the merchant has agreed with that customer.
The price the customer pays is, firstly, dependent on a range of variables stored in the Product Record, including the product's Gross Price and a range of discounts which may be applied in various circumstances.
However, there are a range of additional pricing criteria at your disposal. You may also set up records within the Discount Matrix to control how pricing and discounts are applied to certain combinations of customers (Customer Classes) and products (Price Groups or Product Groups). Other pricing variables, such as Special Prices, Aggregation, Promotional Prices and Collection Discount, can also be set up within Quantum VS in order to determine the final selling price.
Although the system determines the price automatically, sales staff with sufficient user privileges using Quantum VS may have the power to manipulate prices and discounts - albeit within certain system-determined limits - to give the Customer a greater willingness to purchase.
This section covers the following - click the links for details:
How Quantum VS Determines Prices: This section looks at all of the pricing- and discount-related variables which can be set up in Quantum VS, which will ultimately determine the price a Customer pays for goods.
Updating Product Prices And Costs: You will periodically need to update the prices and costs of the products on your system. There are various means of doing this, including using Manual Pricing, using the Quantum VS Price Importer tool, or using one of the available Quantum VS Processes.
Discount Matrix Maintenance: In addition to various pricing-related criteria stored in your Customer and Product records, you may set up records within the Discount Matrix to control how pricing and discounts are applied to certain combinations of customers (Customer Classes) and products (Price Groups or Product Groups).
Special Price Maintenance: A Special Price is a one-off price negotiated for a particular product, range of products or Price Group, that will apply to one particular customer or customer site only. When a special price applies to a particular customer buying a particular product, this will override certain existing discounts and prices which apply to that customer and product(s). Special Prices are stored against a particular customer account and are defined in Special Price records.
Customer Product Break Maintenance: You may create Customer Product Break records holding quantity or weight break discounts for a Customer (or group of Customers) when buying a certain Product (or group of Products). Customer Product Break records cross reference a Product (or Product Group or Price Group) with a Customer (or Customer Class). Each record has a break table defining quantities or weights of a Product a Customer needs to buy in order to qualify for discount. Alternatively the breaks table may point a Customer to different Price Bands.
Aggregation Product Maintenance: You may create Aggregation Product records in order to group together certain related products so that you can apply an aggregation discount across that group of products. This means that Customers will qualify for the discount by buying 'X' amount of any combination of products in that aggregation group, instead of merely having to buy 'X' amount of a specific product to qualify for the discount.
