Quantum VS Help: Credit Control And Reviews |
You may choose to group certain Rules, Actions and/or Comments in a Ruleset into different Sections.
A Section is a sub-routine of the main Ruleset. Grouping Rules, Actions and/or Comments into a Section helps to rationalise the Ruleset and can make it easier to edit/update Rulesets in the future.
By default, when you open a new Ruleset, any new Actions, Rules and Comments are automatically included in the Main Section. However, you may wish to create new Sections (e.g. Section A, B, C etc.) and group certain Actions, Rules and Comments into Sections.
Sections you create are displayed as tabs/headers to the right of the 'Main' Ruleset section:
Click the appropriate Section tab/header to view and edit Actions, Rules and Comments in that Section.
There are two major reasons for creating new Sections within a Ruleset:
In a complicated Ruleset featuring a long series of Rules, Actions and Comments, it may be difficult at first glance to understand what criteria are involved and what Actions are being specified at the various stages within the Ruleset (remember: each Rule and Action is implemented in order when the Credit Review is run). Including Comments in your Ruleset can help simplify matters, but you may also wish to group together certain Actions, Rules and Comments into Sections.
For example: you might have part of a Ruleset which deals with isolating customers according to certain account criteria and then applies an Action involving telephoning these customers; followed by a Section which then updates the account Status of customers according to specified criteria; followed by another Section which applies further Actions (e.g. sending a letter) based on the response to the first Section, and so on.
A long, complicated Ruleset may have the same Rules, Actions and/or Comments included at various points in the Ruleset. Grouping these 'repeating' items into Sections avoids having to create the same Rule/Action/Comment more than once in the same Ruleset.
For example, you might write a Rule which says 'Implement Section A' (with Section A including the 'repeating' Rules/Actions), rather than having to add various duplicate Rules/Actions to the Ruleset. If you subsequently need to update the Ruleset you then only need to edit the Rules/Actions/Comments once - within the Section - rather than editing each duplicate Rule/Action/Comment within the Ruleset.
To create a new Section within an open Ruleset:
1. Make sure you have either created a new Credit Review Ruleset or opened an existing Credit Review Ruleset.
2. The New button on the Toolbar - Sub Menu allows you to add to the Ruleset a new Rule, Action, Comment or Section:
Select New > Section.
The Insert Section window opens.
3. Type in the name of the new Section (e.g. Section A), click [Tab], then click OK to add the new Section to the Ruleset:
Note: Alternatively you may close the Insert Section window without adding the new section by clicking Cancel.
4. The new Section has been created. You must now add the various Actions, Rules and/or Comments that will comprise the Section.
The procedure of adding Actions/Rules/Comments to a Section is exactly the same as when adding Actions/Rules/Comments to a Ruleset. See:
5. Remember that a Section is a sub-routine within the main routine (i.e. Ruleset). Therefore you will need to:
Add an Execute Section Action or Rule within the Ruleset that will start running the defined Section. And:
Add an Exit Section Action or Rule within the Ruleset that will stop running (i.e. exit) the defined Section.
See:
6. Continue by doing one or more of the following:
To add further Sections to the Ruleset, repeat the procedure(s) described above.
To add Actions to the Ruleset, see Adding Actions.
To add Rules to the Ruleset, see Adding Rules.
To add Comments to the Ruleset, see Adding Comments.
7. When the Ruleset is complete, save it by selecting Save on the Toolbar - Sub Menu.
8. Run the Credit Review. See Running A Credit Review.
Note: To reposition Actions, Rules or Comments within a Ruleset (i.e. move them up or down in the Ruleset) see Moving Actions, Rules And Comments Within A Ruleset. To delete an Action, Rule, Comment or Section from a Ruleset, or delete the whole Ruleset, see Editing And Deleting Credit Review Rulesets.
