Pack Maintenance

Quantum VS enables you to create Packs which contain multiple pieces of a single Timber (or Sheet) product. These items may then be sold as a Pack, as opposed to multiple individual Products.

For example, say you stock the timber product 'Sawn timber 50mm x 75mm' as one-metre pieces. You might wish to create Packs of this product for sale, each containing five one-metre pieces. Customers may then purchase one 5-pack of this Timber product instead of five single pieces, should they wish to. A Pack has its own Pack price, which is not necessarily a multiple of the constituent Product prices.

To package a Timber (or Sheet) product together in this way you must first create a 'Pack' Product record. This is essentially a standard Timber (or Sheet) Product, except it is flagged as a Pack via the Stock Control Level field in the Product record - in the Timber Details section under the Main tab. See Defining A Timber Product As A Pack.

When the goods have been ordered and received, a Goods Received Note is created. On recording receipt of the goods a form pops up which enables you to create Packs of the received product. See Creating Packs When Goods Are Received.

This procedure creates individual Pack records. To view details of existing Packs which have been created see Viewing Pack Details.

Pack records can be viewed and opened from the Finder. See Finding Packs.

If a Product has been defined as a 'Pack', you may view a list of Packs for this product by opening the Product record and selecting the Packs tab. See Packs Tab: Viewing Pack Details.

Once the Packs have been created, Customers may then order single Packs of the Timber product instead of multiple pieces of that Product. See Adding Pack Products To Sales Documents.

Although you may not edit individual Packs you may remove them and create new Packs as necessary. See Editing And Removing Packs.

This section covers:

Note: Packs may only be created from Timber and Sheet products. You may only create Packs of one product - not different products. (As an alternative you may create a Kit. Kits comprise two or more different (non-Timber) Products - see Kit Maintenance.)
