Quantum VS Help: System Administration |
Quantum VS has various features enabling the automated printing of product and address labels and maintaining the required records for this procedure. Product information, such as a Bar Code and additional product- and/or company-related details, may be printed on demand onto specific stationery according to the company's requirements.
Note: Actual details printed on the label will depend on the layout of the XML file created for the Label Type. For example, Product and Bar Code labels will typically include a Product Bar Code but may include other company and product details. Kanban labels will typically include a Kanban Bar Code.
There are various types of label printing available in Quantum VS:
Product Label Printing: The Print Product Labels process can be used to print a selected number of Product labels for a selected product range. These product labels may be attached to the product or to its stock location, batch or bin. There are numerous options for selecting and filtering the products and Label Types which will be printed. See Print Product Labels.
Despatch Note Label Printing: You may print a selected number of Address/header or Product labels for a selected range of Despatch Notes and/or Despatch Note lines. These may be attached to consignments or individual items being despatched. See Print Despatch Note Labels and Printing Labels On Despatch Note Confirmation.
Picking Note Label Printing: You may print a selected number of Address/header or Product labels for a selected range of Picking Notes and/or Picking Note lines. These may be attached to consignments or individual items being despatched. See Print Picking Note Labels and Printing Labels On Picking Note Confirmation.
Kanban Label Printing: The Print Kanban Labels process will print a selected number of Kanban Bar Code labels for a selected range of products, Customer accounts or Kanban Bar Codes. These labels may be attached to Kanban product bins to be scanned if a Kanban Maintenance system is being used. See Print Kanban Labels.
Product Bar Code Label Printing: The Print Product Barcode Labels process will print a selected number of Product Bar Code labels for a selected product range. These product labels may be attached to products being received into stock or to Kanban product bins. See Print Product Barcode Labels.
GRN Label Printing: The facility is available to print product labels for goods being received into stock via a Goods Received Note. See Goods Received Note Label Printing.
To facilitate label printing in Quantum VS, various records must be set up:
Printer records: Printer records must be set up in Quantum VS for each print destination which will be available in the system menus when printing documents and labels. See Printer Record Maintenance.
Note: Each printer and its drivers must first be added to the Linux Host Server. See Setting Up Printing In Quantum VS.
Label records: Label records must be created for each type of label which will be printed. The Label record links the label type with a defined printer, print driver and layout file (which defines how the label will be printed, including dimensions, layout and information printed). Label records are referenced when printing labels using the various available label print-related reports/processes. See Label Maintenance.
Note: When setting up Label records you will also need to (1) install/set up the required layout files and (2) configure the Label Type (LABT) and Printer Drivers (PDRV) Table Files using Table File Maintenance. These steps are covered in Creating A New Label Record.
Product records: Product records must be set up in order to print product labels. See Product Maintenance.
Bar Code records: If you wish to print product Bar Code labels, you must first create Bar Code records which link each Product record with a bar code used by your own company/organisation, or by a Customer or Supplier. See Bar Code Record Maintenance.
Kanban records: If you are using Kanban supply management and wish to print Kanban Bar Code labels, you must first create Kanban records to store the Kanban product bin's Bar Code and other details. See Kanban Maintenance.
Branch records: Fields in the Labels tabs of the Branch record are used to set up default address (header) and product label print settings for the current Branch for Picking Notes, Despatch Notes and other documents. See Adding Branch Miscellaneous Details.
